Clean up has begun...

Now that we have POWER and WATER and SCHOOL and the ice has melted, the clean up has begun.

One nice thing about living on a military installation is that there are LOTS of manpower and machines that can help at a moment's notice!

Each unit has been assigned an area of responsibility. They go behind the tree trimming companies and clean up the debris.

On Wednesday, we were at a friend's house down the street working on a Girl Scout project when the soldiers showed up outside. So, we sent the girls out with a tray of Girl Scout cookies. The Soldiers called them "lifesavers."

The good news is that the sun is out today. (Friday) The bad news is that we might get more winter weather this weekend and in to next week. That will slow down clean up...

In this shot, it's still icy, but you can see Jim playing with his new toy: a chainsaw! We have enough wood now to last a WHILE!

And here is our backyard once Jim got through cutting up the pecan tree that squashed our fence. You can really see the damage to the fence in this picture:


And here is a look at all the wood Jim has collect just from our yard. Notice the HUGE pile behind the grill that hasn't been cut down to size yet!
