A Recipe

Today, I helped Teresa's class with a surprise for their teacher. Their teacher is VERY pregnant. She had a doctor's appointment and was going to be out this morning. So, last week, I emailed all the parents and asked them to send in $1 per kids to cover the cost of the diapers + a small GIRL baby item.

Most of the kids brought something in. They were all so excited...once they saw what they were working on! I had one boy come in and say, "My mom told me to give this to you?!?" Once he saw that everyone else was excited, he started to get excited and didn't mind putting the rattle on the cake.

The finished product was excellent! And, one child brought in a blanket that we threw over top to "wrap" the present.

The kids told me to have the office call down when the teacher arrived back on campus so they could hide and yell "surprise!" but apparently, she came in the back door! She walked in the class, the class freaked out and threw her out in to the hall. They turned out the lights and then told her she could come in...and then they yelled surprise! She loved it. AND she brought pictures from the ultrasound to share with the class...


How to BAKE a DIAPER CAKE

Ingredients:
Size one diapers (I used a package of 84)
wide baby ribbon
pins
assorted baby items
thin ribbon
a friend

1) Have friend sit at table and put arms out in the shape of a big circle. Put half the diapers in to her arms, standing on their sides, with butt end toward her arms.

2) Every other diaper, fold one in half, to help create a circle. You can also roll one diaper up and stick it in the middle for a core.

3) Fill friend's arms with the circle of diapers. Secure diapers in to place by wrapping a wide piece of ribbon on the outside of the circle. Pin in place. Do not put the pin into the diapers...or else the recipient will be cursing your name when the diaper leaks.

4) For second layer of the cake, fold all diapers in half and put them in a circle. Roll one diaper for a core. Again, secure with ribbon.

5) For the top layer of the cake, roll the diapers. Put one in the middle and 5-6 around. Secure with ribbon OR baby headband...if it's a girl.

6) Decorate cake with themed items as desired. Tie everything with cute ribbons.
