Friday:
In Class, Alan brought in pencils and chocolate chip cookies to share with his friends. He announced when he woke up that he was "The Birthday-Boy-To-Be!" When Daddy called from the after-wake party in NJ, Aunts, Uncles and both sets of Grandparents sang "Happy Birthday" in to the phone on speaker-phone. He loved it.
Saturday (AKA his ACTUAL Birthday):
He woke up at 5:05am and came in to my room and asked if he could open his presents. NO. At 6am, he yelled "IT'S 6 O'CLOCK!" And then ran in my room and asked if he could open his presents NOW. NO!
At 7am, I relented and let him open a couple. (from Oma and Opa)
At 1pm, friends from down the street came down to sing "Happy Birthday" and eat cake. (because you ALWAYS need cake on your actual birthday)
Next Saturday, we will have friends over for a party. Pictures Pending...

Actually, thanks to Aunt Allison being distracted, the birthday might last a month!!! Sorry we didn't send the present-no excuse, but lots going on...it will show up soon, but the birthday celebration continues until it arrives-I think that means cake everyday!!
Alan
We hope you had an extra special birthday! We were happy we got to sing to you with the rest of the crowd the day before!
We're thinking of you and love you lots!
Wow! What a cake. Wish we could have been there. Love, Oma and Opa
