When it was time for games, I told them we were going to learn about Geography. One of the boys said, "oh, you're kidding!" NOPE, sorry. We planned a Cub Scout activity so that the boys who were Cub Scouts would earn the Geography Belt Loop! The first activity was to draw a map of the neighborhood. I saved a stack of paper from the move, so the boys spread out big sheets to draw their street.
After that, we spread out a map of the Big Island and studies the topography. We were supposed to study our "local area," but the topography of Kansas is NOT THAT INTERESTING! Next, we used a globe to talk about continents, oceans, longitude and latitude. We played a game where they got to throw the globe...which they liked, of course. I'm pretty sure they all had fun, even though a couple of them weren't excited about it at first.
Next, we played a game we got Alan for his birthday: the Family edition of Cranium! It was fun...you have to sculpt or act things out or draw the clues. The boys really got in to it.
Then it was time for CAKE!!! This year, we made a Wolf Cub Scout Hat to go along with our theme!!
Note to self: 2 hours is PLENTY long enough for a birthday party...3 hours...TOO LONG!! After cake, ice cream and presents, we still had 30 minutes! So, we opened up one of Alan's presents: a Hot Wheels race track! The boys had a ton of fun running back and forth to Alan's room to get other cars to see which one would be the fastest!

Becky - your party planning skills are impressive. Too bad you're so far away - Nic's first is right around the corner and I had a heck of a time just getting to the invitations!
What a GREAT party! Looks like they had a super time. Too funny though, when they thought they were going to a party and the party mom teaches them GEOGRAPHY!! Bwhwhahahahhaaaa! :)

Don't they just love that track? Ryan got it for his birthday in September, it is a little advanced for him to set up, so Joe is RIGHT THERE to help him! :) They love it.
Looks like tons of fun was had by all. Nana had to have a nap just reading about it....
